Meet Amy
June 22, 2024
Hey Friend!
It’s been a couple weeks since I am written about my calendar revamp, and now that our financial freedom event has pasted, I can get back to our regularly scheduled programming.
I wanted to get into the meat & potatoes of what my calendar mapping details looks like and some tips for you, as well as some things to think about!
If you have been following along you know I have put some things into place to better maximize and manage my time.
First, let’s start with where we can find more time, that’s already just sitting there!
Identify Your Time Suck(s)
This is what I discovered for myself:
1. My Phone! Checking emails, notifications, text messages, all the things! Now, now I haven’t mastered this, but I have put some things into place to improve, and that’s what this is about. Not perfection because that doesn’t exist!
So here is what I did to curb that phone distraction and usage:
A. Set up do not disturb times on my phone from 5pm-4am
B. Turned off all sounds and notifications on my phone indefinitely! C. Tried my very best to set chunks of work time where I don’t check my phone, this one is hard y’all!
2. Doing too many in person meetings! I love hanging out with people and getting to know new people, but regular 1 hour in person one off meetings can easily eat up hours! Between getting ready, travel, and talking too much it could ultimately take up half of my day
Here is My Criteria for Meetups for My Calendar:
A. No more than 2 in person meetings per month, this can mean one on ones, lunches, coffees, whatever- you have to find what works and is realistic for you. B. A maximum of 2 Big social events per month
C. A maximum of 1 Sponsorship per month, were attendance for me makes sense.
3. Being overly obsessive about the order and appearance of my house. (Anyone else OCD like me?) I find myself spending 1-2 hours a day just tidying, unpacking, laundry, etc, minimum. This one is the one that does me in!
Let me title this: How I am trying to Overcome excessive tidying!
A. I use Sunday as a reset day- pick up the house, finish the laundry, put the groceries away, etc. Get ready for the week, it relieves a lot of last-minute scrambling stress.
B. I have to tell myself; your house does not need to look like it’s in a magazine! Let me say that again, it doesn’t matter! Who is coming over to critique and if they are, who cares? We live here!
These are just some of my examples to help you figure out the boundaries you are comfortable with! Maybe one of your time sucks is spending an hour on the phone each day with someone just to complain. Is that serving you?
Maybe you spend 2 hours every day scrolling but you never work out because you “don’t have the time.” Look, I am not judging you, I’m just saying identify the BS in your schedule so you can carve out time for the things that really matter, the things you reallllly want to do!
Tell me, was this helpful?
Interested in a schedule/time suck audit?
Talk soon!
With So Much Love,
Amy
