Meet Amy
September 10, 2024
I sat in a Panera the other morning and an older lady walked up to me and asked, “Where are you going today, looking so pretty?” I held my hand over my mouth to respond to her, because I had just taken a bite of my souffle. “I’m going to eat lunch with some friends later.” “Oh, you are, and you’re eating now and going to eat later? Well, that sounds like me!” Yeah, Carol, that sounds like me too. You see human bodies- male and female get hungry, that’s what they do, usually every few hours. Now, I’m not mad at Carol, she was trying to be sweet, but why the comment? Why are we commenting at all on what women eat, when they eat and how much they eat? Our bodies were designed to run on food for fuel and we have so demonized feeding our bodies! We have given food morality, we have restricted, and counted, and starved ourselves, we have followed ever fad and diet plan, and we are still missing it. We are missing the love for ourselves and what our bodies have done for us. Listen, I’m not all the way there, I still have lots of issues with food and my body, but I’m trying y’all. I’m breaking patterns, and not talking badly about myself in front of kids, especially my daughter. Because when she sees me, she sees how she should be. You don’t have to teach anything; they will just observe and internalize. Besides the fact that talking shit about yourself is gross, just stop it. You were created by God and He says you are beautiful! If you find yourself, silent, or out loud, judging what a woman eats, when and what, I say this in love and anger STFU and mind your business. Seriously. If the half an orange you ate at 7am lasts you until dinner, good for you! Keep it to yourself and keep moving, and let that other girl EAT. |
With so much love and WTF, Carol, Amy |
