Meet Amy
December 30, 2024
I saw this post on social media the other day, and it’s so true.
Someone recently told me I light up a room. It was one of the best compliments I’ve ever received—not because it was about my looks, accomplishments, or anything tangible, but because it was about my spirit. It spoke to the energy I bring.
But just as much as I’ve been lifted up, I’ve had moments when I felt low. You know those moments when you’re harder on yourself than anyone else ever could be. Recently, in one of those moments, my brother sent me the most heartfelt words of encouragement. His words felt like a lifeline, reminding me of my worth and giving me the strength to rise above my own doubts, because he saw something in me that I couldn’t at the moment.
This is the power of encouragement.
Some of you have this gift and don’t even realize how transformative it is. Some of you have this gift because you’ve walked through hell, faced the fire, and didn’t even come out smelling like smoke! You faced unimaginable challenges, and emerged with a heart that knows how to heal, a heart that knows how it feels.
Don’t ever think that any of your hardship is wasted, God will use every ounce of your aching heart to heal someone else, maybe because you’ve been there. You carry the unique ability to lift someone up, to inspire hope, to save a life with just your words.
Encouragement is a gift often overlooked, until you’re in desperate need of it.
So, I want to remind you today: You are walking love letters.
You carry within you the ability to make someone feel seen, understood and loved. Don’t underestimate that power.
Literally one sentence of salve can be someone else’s turning point.
