Being a women-owned business comes with its unique challenges, but mastering conflict resolution doesn’t have to be one of them.
Let’s turn those tough conversations into opportunities for growth with these “Top 10” expert tips from Dr. Cherise:
1. Lean in and Lean out. There is a time and place for either option. Know when to engage and when to step back. Balance is key!
2. Boundaries are your Besties! Protect your peace and productivity by setting clear boundaries.
3. Clarity is Kindness. As author Brené Brown says, be clear to be kind. It avoids misunderstandings and fosters respect.
4. Keep cost in Mind. Consider the physical, emotional and financial costs of conflict. Choose your battles wisely.
5. Reframe Like a Pro. Sometimes a quick reframe can cast a more productive light on your conflict. It can also assist you in providing a helpful conclusion to a conflict moment.
“Thanks so much for providing me the opportunity to hear more about your experience with our product or company. I would appreciate some additional time so that I might have the chance to address or follow-up on any of your concerns.”
“It sounds like we might have had some miscommunication, how might I provide more additional information to ensure that we are on the same page about how to move forward in a productive way.”
6. Place, Time and Purpose. Address issues in the right setting and with a clear purpose to find effective solutions.
7. Intent does not always equal Impact. Understand that good intentions can still hurt. Acknowledge the impact of your actions even if the other party is not ready to do the same.
8. Perspective is Everything! Shift your perspective to see conflicts as opportunities for growth and understanding. Try to see things from the other person’s viewpoint. It can make all the difference.
9. What role will you play? You can either have a hand in resolving the problem or escalating it unnecessarily. Will you be the saboteur or the strategic problem solver? Will you be petty or political?
10. These boots were made for walking…and sometimes that’s what you gotta do. Sometimes, walking away is the best resolution. Know when to let go.
Conflict resolution isn’t just about solving problems; it’s about building stronger, more resilient relationships. Ready to tackle your next challenge head-on? Let’s grow together!
