This Man

Y’all, I just can’t with him sometimes. You never know what is going to come out of his mouth, if nothing else he keeps me entertained!

But the one thing that I love about him is how he supports me. He is never threatened by my ambition, strength or confidence. In fact, he is attracted to it. He once told me he started falling in love with me when he witnessed me cussing someone out. Disclaimer, this was in my 20s in the years of my piss & vinegar days. I have considerable mellowed since. I once had an old boyfriend tell me I was too assertive and from that point, I got the irreversible ick. Ladies, you know what I’m talking about. 

But this man, honey, this man, has always given me the space to be who I am, flaws and all. He has given me the freedom to pursue my dreams, expand my business, try new things, succeed and fail. He has always had my back, and his belief in me has ignited and strengthened my belief in myself. He sees me in a way I don’t even see myself and it’s so strong and so real its palpable. 

And do you know why he can express his support and encouragement for me so freely? Because he is secure in his own masculinity, his own ability to make me feel safe, protected and loved. He knows what he is capable of, and that our relationship is not a competition. He knows that he is ‘Kenough’ lol and is he ever! There is nothing sexier than a confident man that supports women. That is true strength. 

I feel so sad and angry when I hear some women speak about their partner feeling jealous, or insecure about their success. Know that it is not about you, it’s about them. Single ladies, look out for those red flags of delicate egos and trust your gut. We all have our issues, but steer clear of small men who can’t celebrate your wins. 

Look out for a possible podcast where my boo will drop some knowledge on how to treat women and the ramblings of someone with a very little filter, and lots of random thoughts. That is, if I can talk him into it!
