But what if it all works out?

Anxiety has become an epidemic in our modern society. We have more than we’ve ever had, yet so many of us are paralyzed by anxiety—caught in that dreaded feeling of “what if.” Whether it’s about a specific situation or just a vague unease about life in general, anxiety can feel overwhelming.

But let me ask you this: what if it all works out?

I often find myself riding waves of confidence and optimism about the future, only to be hit by those nagging, familiar thoughts: “What if this happens? What if that goes wrong?” It’s a constant feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop. It’s mind-bending, it’s a roller coaster, and it’s exhausting. But most importantly, it’s not how God wants us to live.

Listen, I’m not a preacher, but this will preach: God wants you to live in peace. He wants you to be anxious for nothing. He wants you to ask for what you need, and if you believe, He will provide.

I think about Peter walking on water toward Jesus. He was able to do it because he believed he could. But the moment he started wondering “what if” while looking at the waves, he began to sink.

God’s plan for you is not to sink. It’s not to live in fear of failure or the future. It’s okay to believe in the lovely, beautiful things He has in store for you. With God within you, you will not fall.

He wants good things for you. He has a plan, and you can rest in the knowledge that He gives good gifts to His children. That sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach? That’s straight from hell, and you need to send it right back where it came from.

The verse that inspired my son’s name—a beautiful little, unplanned surprise—says it best:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

And if that doesn’t do it for you, take some advice from Journey: don’t stop believin’.
